The University of Colima is a state university which has five campuses distributed throughout the state. It is relatively young and is recognized as one of the best of Mexico. The university has many years of experience in hosting conferences in the field of volcanology.

The International Volcán de Colima Meeting has been held approximately every two years since 1989. COV7 will be held in the new North Colima Campus, which includes the University Theatre, which holds almost 1000 people. Nearby there are several large auditoriums that will be used to host the different sessions.
